Die angeborene Keratokonjunktivitis Sicca und ichthyosiforme Dermatose (CKCSID), umgangssprachlich auch als “Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome” bekannt, ist eine Erkrankung, die beim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel vorkommt. CKCSID besteht aus zwei Elementen: einer schweren Form des trockenen Auges (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca, KCS) und einer Hauterkrankung. Die Krankheit wird durch eine rezessive Mutation des Gens FAM83H verursacht.
Klinische Merkmale
Affected puppies are born with an abnormal rough or curly coat and an inability to properly produce tears, which leads to a severe form of dry eyes. Symptoms include red eyes, itchy and/or scaly skin, cracked and sore paw pads, deformed nails and poor dental health.
